Wivvle — Privacy Notice
Last updated: 2026-08-19
Wivvle has no server and no analytics: your scores, coins and cats are kept on your device and Kalmaro never receives any of them. The app talks to Apple for two things — the App Store, to show prices in the shop and to restore purchases; and, only if you switch Game Center on, to submit your best distance to the leaderboard.
What Wivvle keeps, and where
Everything the game remembers about you is a short list of numbers and names of things, stored in the app’s own settings on your device: your best distance and best streak, your fish-coin balance, which coats you own and which one is equipped, which character is equipped, your sound, music and haptics switches, and a few flags about what you have already seen. There is no account, no profile, no name, no email and nothing you can type. None of it syncs — Wivvle has no iCloud, no CloudKit and no shared container — so it lives on the one device and travels only in whatever backup you already make of that device. Deleting the app removes it.
Game Center — off unless you turn it on
Wivvle can put your best distance on a Game Center leaderboard. It is off by default and stays off until you switch it on in Settings: with the switch off the app never signs in to Game Center, never contacts it and never submits anything. Turn it on and two things follow. Your device signs in to Game Center with your Apple Account, and at the end of a run the game submits one number — the distance you reached — to a single leaderboard. Nothing else goes with it: not your coins, not your streak, not which cat you were using, not any identifier the app has made up. Because it is a leaderboard, Apple attaches your Game Center nickname to that score and shows it publicly alongside everyone else’s; that is Apple’s system and Apple’s data, and Kalmaro has no access to it. Switching it back off stops Wivvle submitting anything and disconnects it from Game Center, but it cannot sign you out of Game Center itself, and scores already on Apple’s leaderboard stay there — removing one is a matter for Apple’s own Game Center settings.
The shop, and the one request that happens either way
This is the part a shorter notice would leave out. Wivvle asks the App Store for the current prices of its eight items every time it starts, so the shop can show what things cost in your currency — that request happens whether or not you ever buy anything and whether or not Game Center is on. It is a request to Apple, it carries the app’s own product identifiers, and it carries nothing about you or your game. Buying something and tapping Restore Purchases are the same kind of request, made when you ask for them. Kalmaro operates no server, receives no purchase information and never learns what you bought.
Purchases
Wivvle is free to download and free to play to the end. Four extra characters can be bought for a small one-off price each, or all of them together in a bundle; there is also a tip jar, which grants nothing at all and exists only if you want to leave one. There are no subscriptions and no consumable currency sold for money — fish coins cannot be bought, only earned by playing, and every coat but the first is unlocked with coins rather than cash. What you own is worked out from Apple’s own record of your purchases each time the app runs, so a saved file cannot be edited to unlock anything, and an unverified transaction unlocks nothing.
Permissions, and what is not in the app
Wivvle asks for no permissions whatsoever — it declares none, so no prompt can appear. No location, camera, photos, contacts, microphone, notifications or tracking. It links no third-party packages at all: no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no attribution SDK, no advertising identifier, no tracking of any kind and no tracking domains declared. There are no adverts, and no rewarded video. The music and sound effects are generated by the project’s own build script rather than licensed from anyone, and the game’s audio steps aside for whatever you are already listening to. Sharing your score builds a picture on your device and hands it to the share sheet, so it goes only where you send it — Wivvle posts nothing anywhere.
What the App Store label says, and who to ask
Nothing Wivvle holds is collected by Kalmaro, and the app declares no collected data types of its own. Where a leaderboard score is submitted, it is submitted to Apple’s Game Center and handled under Apple’s terms rather than Kalmaro’s. If you have a question about privacy, see the main privacy policy, which carries the contact address.
